  • Athletics City Championships - successes

    We had a brilliant evening at the City Championships for Athletics on Thursday 20th June 2019. 56 schools took part in the heats leading up to the City Finals! 7 of our children qualified in a range of events and at the end of the evening we had a CITY CHAMPION in the Y5 60m sprint, a bronze medalist in the Y5 600m and some stunning performances from all our children who finished in the top 5 or top 10 in the city! The results are as follows:

    Alonzo Blake -  Y5 finalist and City Champion 60m sprint

    Jem Martin - Y5 600m distance race - 3rd in the City

    Alfie Taylor Haigh - Y6 800m race - 4th in the City

    Charlie Barker finalist for Y5 60m sprint

    Isaac Corker - Y5 race walk 600m top 5 finisher

    Eden Thurley - Y5 race walk 600m girls finalist

    Charlie Barker - Y5 600m distance race - top 10

    Well done to everyone who took part, whether it was heats or finals...you were all outstanding!

  • Gymnasts compete in National Final!

    On Thursday 6th June, 4 girls from Y4 attended the National Gymnastics Novice Competition in Stoke. at Fenton Manor Sports Complex. The competition was floor and vault.

    The girls came 8th in the English Schools National Finals Competition which is a fantastic achievement.  They were all brilliant and they all gave 100 percent. Well done Katie Hallam, Victoria Powell, Ruby Songjam and Alice Bonsall. We are super proud of you!  

  • Athletics at Woodbourn Road 6th June 2019

    Well done to the 16 Y6 and 16 Y5 children who took part at the Sheffield Schools Athletics (Heat 4) yesterday. We saw some stunning performances and our children are SO supportive of each other - the teamwork they display is amazing. Everyone tried so hard and demonstrated many of the values that we talk about at school. 7 of our children have qualified for the City Finals that will be held on the 20th June at Woodbourne Road, starting at 4:15pm. Well done to everyone who took park! 

    Congratulations to Alonzo Blake, Charlie Barker, Isaac Corker, Jem Martin, Eden Thurley, Alfie Taylor Haigh and Edward Clayton for getting through to the City Finals!

  • MOVE MORE MONTH

    As a school we have signed up to the Move More Month - we will try to be as active as possible during the month of June. We have pledged to make lessons active, jog at least one lap of our Mile a Day and have at least one active assembly each week during June. We will have a bike to school week commencing 4th June, further details to follow. How many families can we get walking or cycling/scooting to school? Prizes are available through the council and Norton Free is on a mission!
  • Norton Free win Division B in the Sheffield Schools Swimming Gala!

    Our children are OUTSTANDING. Well done to the children from Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 who took part in the Swimming Gala tonight at Pond's Forge. You were all an absolute credit to our school and swam your hearts out! We are all so proud of you for achieving such fantastic results - 93 points put us into the lead and we finished in 1ST PLACE in division B. Another haul of medals and another trophy for our trophy cabinet. Tea at 3 for our champions! Photos to follow.
  • Y6 part of record breaking attempt!

    Move More is a Sheffield-wide strategy aiming to transform our city into the most active in the UK by 2020. June 2019 is ‘Move More Month’ and partners across Sheffield will host a variety of fitness activities.The launch took place on Monday 20thMay in the FlyDSA Arena car park and involved many members of the community coming together to try and set a new world record for the most people playing hopscotch simultaneously! Our Y6 class went along to join in after their week of SATs and they had a great time and we believe that the world record may have been broken! 

    Our children were interviewed by Radio Sheffield too!

  • Big Tennis Weekend

    Big Tennis Weekend at Graves Health and Sports Centre. Sunday 19th May. The coaches have been into school working with some of our children. The children in FS, Y1, Y3 and Y4 loved the opportunity to play tennis. Please see the flyer in the Community Section.
  • Family Fun Day Fundraiser at Norton Free, Saturday 18th May from 10am - 3pm

    One of our former pupils is now proud dad to Sonny. In Feb 2019, Sonny was diagnosed with KIF1A - a degenerative disorder.

    KIF1A syndrome is a neurological condition caused by changes in the KIF1A gene. The condition usually begins to show symptoms in childhood or early teenage years.

    On Saturday 18th May we will holding a family fun day in school to raise funds for Sonny. All proceeds will be going to Sonny's Dream Cure and KIF1A awareness. For more information visit KIF1A.org 

    Everyone is welcome - let's see how much we can raise for Sonny.

  • Everyone a Writer Anthology Presentation evening at Meadowhead May 2019

    3 of our Y3 girls attended the Everyone a Writer Anthology presentation evening at Meadowhead representing Norton Free. There were well over 600 entries to this years anthology and these three girls had their work selected to be published!

     

    Ruby Uttley was awarded the Winner certificate for Norton Free and she received a book on writing stories. Amelie Harrison and Amy Currie were awarded Highly Commended certificates. We are incredibly proud of these girls, who read their written pieces with confidence and pride in front of a packed assembly hall - WELL DONE GIRLS!

     

    The overall winner of all the entries published was former Norton Free pupil Lucy Hallam, who left us last year. Well done Lucy!
