Healthy Schools
A Healthy School is one that promotes physical and emotional health by providing accessible relevant information which equips pupils, staff and families with the skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health. From recent media coverage there is increasing concern about rising rates of obesity, tooth decay and related health problems in children. As a school it is part of our responsibility to help our children learn how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Our Healthy Schools Lead is Mr Neilson.

WOW THE WALK TO SCHOOL CHALLENGE
The WOW walking to school challenge has arrived at Norton Free! From Monday 1st November we will be taking part in a year long walk to school challenge. The children are encouraged to travel to school in an active way. If they can do this once a week for a month they will receive a badge. It's that simple!
From November, they will Walk for the World, earning badges featuring wildlife they can help protect from climate change through sustainable travel.
The badges are made in Cornwall from repurposed plastic material that was otherwise destined for landfill, including fridge trays, plastic plates and yoghurt pot off-cuts. For more information, visit: livingstreets.org.uk/recycling
In the UK, thousands of schools and around one million pupils are enjoying the benefits of walking to school with WOW. Will you join us?
If you have any questions about the programme, please contact Mr Neilson rneilson@nortonfree.sheffield.sch.uk , or find more information at: livingstreets.org.uk/wowlaunch
Let’s swap those school runs for school walks.
